Govt Launches STEM Program For Matric And Inter Students
President Arif Alvi unveiled the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program for undergraduate and middle school students.
The STEM program was developed by the Department of Science and Technology and its development began last year on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

According to the data, the STEM Program was initially introduced in 50 public schools and colleges where students in grades 9 to 12 will be enrolled according to their talent and abilities. The campaign will be extended to other public schools and colleges across the country in the next phase.
There are three elements of the STEM program; laboratories, teacher training, and STEM modules.
Under the first phase, specialized laboratories will be set up to assist students enrolled in the STEM Program. Teachers would be trained to be able to effectively teach students enrolled in the program in the second half. In the third phase, universities will select schools and colleges only on the basis of improving the quality of education for STEM courses.

Speaking at the launch event, President Arif Alvi said the STEM courses had gained "special importance" in the world, adding that the launch of the STEM program had ushered in a new era of progress and would enable Pakistani students to compete globally.
The Department of Science and Technology, Shibli Faraz, called the move "a game changer" in the country's education sector, adding that Pakistan would not develop until public schools and colleges were modernized.
